Born July 6, 1956
Friday 9:33am St. Mary’s Hospital, Tucson, AZ.
7 pounds, 5.5 ounces, 20 inches long.
Attending doctors: Dr. Rhu and Dr. Dew
He was born with congested lungs, a slight club foot and a leg that was a half inch
shorter than the other. At three months Michael was hospitalized because he had asthma.
Michael died on Monday, October 15, 1990, 4:38 am at the age of 34 from the following AIDS
related complications;
Anemia
Gastrointestinal bleeding
Cryptosporidium diarrhea
Disseminated Histoplasmosis
Michael was a financial advisor who volunteered his time to help fight the battle against
HIV/AIDS.
He was active in the following ways;
1) Distributed needs to the less fortunate.
2) Child care and “handy man services”.
3) Suicide line and caregiver to PWA’s
4) Renaissance director
5) Gay Line talk show
6) Founder of Heartland AIDS Resource Council (HARC), Pantry for HIV/AIDS and Hispanic
AIDS Coalition (PWA)
7) Good Samaritan Project (GSP) where he was the PWA Financial Assistant Director.
8) In 1988 he brought the Names Quilt to Kansas City.
9) Involved in the Safe House a residential service for PWA’s with no place to live.
10) Granny Corner ( He made arrangements during his illness and before his death.) |
Matthew
Maurice Flores –
Born September 25, 1960
Sunday 2:07 pm. St. Mary’s Hospital, Tucson, AZ.
5 pounds, 11 ounces, 19 inches long.
Attending doctors: Dr. Rhu and Dr. Dew
He was born with Genitourinary Disorder and congenital urethral strictures. At three weeks
old Matthew has his first surgery -- 17 total over 26 years.
Matthew died on Saturday, October 28, 1989, 11:20 pm at the age of 29 from the following
AIDS related complications;
Cardiopulmonary arrest
Congestive heart failure
Renal failure
Pneumonia
Matthew was an entertainer in Las Vegas, NV who like his brother also volunteered his time
during his battle with HIV/AIDS
He was active in the following ways;
1) Caregiver to elderly cancer patients.
2) Assisted young prostitutes to change their lifes.
3) Entertained in children's wards.
4) Performed in many AIDS benefits.
5) Rainbow Organization in Las Vegas - Housing for PWA's
6) AIDS Educator at detention centers.
7) AFAN Buddy (AIDS for AIDS Nevada)
8) Matthew was responsible for getting "Las Vegas Cable" to donate VCR and 200
movies to the AIDS ward 10 days before his death.
